Toronto based singer/songwriter, Lynn Moffatt is known for her electric live performance and soul-filled voice.  Born and raised in very small town in Northern Ontario, Moffatt always knew she was destined to explore the highs and lows of life as an inquisitive, creative, wanderer. In her lyrics, she reflects on matters of spirit and social issues.  Her ideas are often controversial, political, comical, and emotional.  Her voice is strong but can also be very delicate as if it were a combination of clean country Patsy Cline and Shania Twain, and attitude blues like Bonnie Raitt and Tracy Chapman.

Moffatt independently released her debut EP in March 2018 and performs regularly in Toronto with her 5-piece band, The Lynn Moffatt Band.  She is currently completing a solo acoustic tour with dates across the US and Canada.  Check the tour page for a or a full list of upcoming shows and booking information.

LONG BIO

Upon receiving her B. A. at the University of Waterloo, Moffatt needed a landing space for her musical vision to come to life, and made the move to Toronto.  With close friend, Tanya Casole-Gouveia, she form SidePonyNation, a comedic/multi-media duo. The creative duo became recognized for their hip-hop/acoustic live performances as well as their Youtube channel.  In 2013 SidePonyNation received a Digi Award Nomination, and in 2015 were signed on as MUCH Creators (MuchMusic). Moffatt could not get enough of the stage and soon she began singing in numerous cover bands, with shows almost every weekend across Southern Ontario.  The thrill of the stage was addicting and although she valued the experience, she felt something was missing- she wanted to perform her own music.

In 2016, Moffatt set off on her first international music tour in United States with Matthew Riggs (guitarist). The duo performed their original music throughout 25 States including during SXSW Music Festival.  It was a learning experience for the young artist and once back in Toronto, Moffatt knew she would need a funky, rhythmic train of talented musicians to take her songs to the next level.  The Lynn Moffatt Band was formed with Matthew Riggs (guitar), Tyson Hisler (bass), Chris Hall (electric pedal steel), and Stefan Loebus (drums).

Long-time mentor and friend Chris Hall (arranger/composer/producer) opened his studio to the Lynn Moffatt Band where they began to rehearse and record.  Hall introduced legendary producer Terry Brown (Rush, The Cutting Crew) to Moffatt’s music and he came on board to mix the album.

With a devoted fan-base in Toronto and the GTA the Lynn Moffatt band plays frequent shows at Toronto’s best live music clubs, including The Dakota Tavern, Cameron House, Orbit Room, Revival Bar, Junction City Music Hall, and more.  They have performed during Canadian Music Week, Sounds of the City Festival, and Indie Week. Hop on the Lynn Moffatt train now; this journey is really just beginning.
